Retired US Army Lieutenant Colonel
Robert Brooke Eldridge was drafted by
the United States Army in May of 1966.
"Brooke” graduated, top of his class &
was promoted to PFC. Just 1 month later,
he was promoted to E 4. Brooke attended
Armor Officer Training at Fort Knox Ky.,
and within 360 days of being drafted, he
graduated as a Second Lieutenant, Armor
Officer.
Due to his service in Vietnam
war,
Brooke was awarded the Bronze Star,
Meritorious Service Medal, with 2nd Oak
Leaf Cluster, Air Medal, along with 14
Clusters for Combat Missions and an
Additional award, of the Air Medal, for
Valor. In addition to those awards, he
was also given The Army Commendation
Medal, National Defense Service Medal,
Army Service Medal, Vietnam Service
Medal, Over Seas Service Ribbon,
Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal,
Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross,
Unit Citation and the Master Army
Aviator, with Palm.
After the war ended,
Captain Eldridge commanded a Calvary
Unit at Fort Knox, Ky, and as a Major,
commanded an aviation unit in Germany,
with the 2nd Armored Calvary Regiment
where he was also assigned as the 2nd
ACR’s Adjutant. His final assignment was
Inspector General, for the Fifth United
States Army, Fort Sam Houston, San
Antonio Texas, where he retired as a
Lieutenant Colonel!
At the conclusion of his service
in the military, Brooke
attained his undergraduate Degree from
University of Louisville, majoring in
Business and receiving a BSC in
Accounting 1976! I received a Masters
Degree (MA) from Central Michigan
University, 1980, along with graduating
the same year, from the Army, Command
and General Staff College, Fort
Leavenworth, Ks.
